Job Title: Imam
Location: Burnaby, BC (Vancouver area)
Job Description: Masjid al-Salaam and Education Center, a beautiful brand new
facility that is nearing completion in Burnaby, a suburb of Vancouver, catering
to some 500 Muslim families is seeking applications from qualified Islamic
scholars for the position of an Imam.
Responsibilities:- Lead or organize five times daily prayers
- Lead or
organize Friday, Eid ,Taraweeh and Janazah Salah
- Set curriculum for Islamic
studies program for all ages
- Perform Nikah ceremonies according to
Shariah
- Provide religious guidance & conduct necessary
classes
- Perform counseling to youth, adults and families as
required
- Assist in raising funds for construction and operation of the
Masjid al-Salaam
- Be responsible for outreach programs
- Participate in
interfaith dialogues
- Advance the cause of Islam including Dawah work to the
local community
- Conduct himself in a respectable manner at all times
Qualifications:- Degree in Islamic studies (or equivalent) from a
reputable recognized institution
- Well versed in Shariah and Islamic
jurisprudence
- Must be a practicing Sunni Muslim
- Proficient in spoken
and written English and Arabic
- Excellent interpersonal skill
Desirable:- Canadian citizen or landed immigrant preferred (but not
necessary)
- Proven track record in interfaith dialogues
- Proven track
record in family counseling
- Assist in the day to day running of the
administrative office
- Proficiency in computers
