BANGLADESH FLOOD APPEAL

Following the recent devastating floods, a powerful Cyclone has also just struck Bangladesh!  According to the latest information at least 3,000 individuals have died, countless animals have perished, and innumerable homesteads, stores, and schools have been flattened. These floods could not have come at a worse time, just two months after the planting of the rice crops in response to an earlier emergency. The Bangladeshi nationin fact is trying to cope not just with the natural disasters of 2007, but also with the uncertainties brought about by the political upheavals in the country.

Let us do our best to help those in need!

  • NABIC is immediately sending $25,000 to the Chief Advisor's Relief Fund.
  • NABIC is also planning to send additional funds to its affiliates in Bangladesh (NUSRA and Brotee) to work in the severely affected areas of Patuakhali, Barguna and Pirojpur.

NABIC which was established in 1991 has a proven track record of providing support for relief and rehabilitation in Bangladesh. This yearalone  NABIC received more that $55,000 from Bangladeshi and non-Bangladeshi Muslim communities in US.   This money goes exclusively to the affected communities in Bangladesh via Karmir Hath (Gaibandha), ORCA (Sirajganj) and NUSRA (Dhaka, Manikganj and Habiganj).
